Virgin post.
Loaded new Garmin TOPO Australia SD card to Nuvi 260w but contour lines are not displayed and appears to not show all of Holland track.
Do I have to register the card with Garmin.
Do i have to select the card rather than internal memory some how.
Any idea gurus?

You must first select tools, Map, and then map info. It should show City Navigator and Garmin topo. Untick city navigator and select garmin topo. I think you will see a big difference on Holland track. Unless you untick City navigator, the unit will always use that instead of whatever sd card you have in there. Hope this helps.

You are so right under maps and info box opened there it was both topo and installed maps. Both were ticked unticked the pre loaded stuff. Contours and tracks show up now. It seemed like it was confused when both were ticked it would flash up contours now and again and display the track name but show no tracks.
Going to have the big fidddle now and see what the coverage is really like.
Appreciate your help greatly.

What happening is this, CN has a lower draw priority then the Topo maps. So the GPS draws the topo maps first and then draws the CN maps over the top of them. Most of the time you don't see it but in your case, the GPS wasn't doing it fast enough from time to time. A lot of data to draw on the screen.

These are pretty interesting gadgets really when you first purchase them its just another tool but I can see how it is going to become another hobby, up dating and looking to use more complex features .
Really looking forward to getting out to the track next month seeing its real life situation performance.
The track coverage looks good and also looked at the Yeagarup dunes tracks where I have been before and it appears they are on it as well.
Once again a return visit will soon verify the accuracy, as soon as another free weekend comes available.

Baby steps for me Nicko
Still playing with a CD full of stuff.
Mrs is already suggesting that too much time and money is being spent on new gadgets. Will get on the road when my credit card arrives (left on your counter)so the prado can get another fill of Diesel
Cheers for your help.

I'm glad the info about ticking and unticking the maps sorted your problem. I think we have all been there at least once with city navigator taking preference over what you really want.
