Good morning,

I am writing to let you know that CoPilot Live have just released another update to their hugely popular navigation app for the iPhone. The latest update brings a number of improvements, including enhanced GPS performance as well as iPod controls within the application. This means that users can now control their iPod through the CoPilot Live application, making the application even simpler to use. This automatic update is free to all existing users.

Since its launch in August, CoPilot Live continues to prove extremely popular with consumers in Europe, currently retaining top position amongst the paid navigation apps on the Apple App Store. The CoPilot application also holds the number one position in the iTunes Top Grossing Apps chart, meaning that it has generated more revenue than any other app sold via the Apple App Store in some European countries.

The latest CoPilot Live iPhone app update has been approved and is now available via AppStore in North America, UK+IRE, Nordics, Italy and Iberia. We expect that the update will be approved for France, Benelux, DACH, Australasia and Pan Europe apps imminently

Please find enclosed some screenshots of this new feature and do not hesitate to contact me for further information.

Many thanks,

Helene

Hi Nick,

It will depend on the products we plan to distribute in Australia. The Windows mobile product will be ready soon and for existing customers we will sell the upgrade directly from our website. Then the Android version will be available through the Android Marketplace and finally the iPhone application is only on sale through iTunes or the Appstore. With the evolution of appstore, the distribution model tends to change but we’ll still produce a packaged product for Windows Mobile and at that moment we will work with Traveroute again.

I spoke to Travroute regarding this change of tact by ALK and Travroute was very hesitant at first to giving any clear indication of what Co-pilot products are still available through them but in the end they siad they will not be selling Co-Pilot at all. It seems that Travroute are shifting to a new product, that being the ProNav, probably a far more lucrative product than Co-Pilot.

I did a REVIEW (http://www.gpsaustralia.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13110) on the different products out there and did mention that Co-Pilot Live and Destinator were seriously over priced products especially when you can purchase a Garmin Navigator cheaper than their software.

As to why I hope to find out but certainly the shift in the way people purchase online and that ALK have realised the cost savings in selling direct over the net is of more interest.
