I just bought a Mio C520 from a mate it works well but when I contacted Mio to find out when the next map update would be I was advised to trade it in as they were not producing new maps for the C series.

I was told by another guy to obtain a crack for the 520 and you turn it into a PDA then I may be able to load different maps.

Is this true? and how do I go about it?

It appears to be a good unit so I don't really want to part with it.

If I do what could you recommend with the same or better features.

Thanks

As Wahroonga Farm suggested

"Google:

Your unit is normal in that it has Mio DigiWalker installed. If you want to "unlock" it to run other software you need to use the programs suggested (Miopocket Lite or MioPocket). If your unit is already working then you dont need original discs. I have a Mio 720 - runs OziExplorerCe fine using Miopocket Lite.

Hi - OziCe is a GPS mapping program that among other things displays georeferenced raster map/airphoto images. Its not a map itself.
