Yeah, nice one. My old man just went for a setup like that for his travels around australia in retirement, does all the usual spoken directions & runs ozice for outback stuff, 1GB card with 2005 natmaps & great desert tracks, keeps him happy until I have to help him with something he doesn't know or has forgotten how to do :)

Hi Craigus
You will have to keep us all informed on what your getting. :D
I am looking along the same lines and are leaning towards the hx4700 for a PDA with oziCE. Have not worked out the rest yet

Craigus, did you assemble the carputer from parts yourself or buy it built ?

being the geek that I am this is really cool craigus, and looking at your web site piccies fired me all up re doing something about what I have been thinking about for some time.
I want to know if anyone out there has had experience with the car computers that are appearing on the market, that fit into a standard DIN compartment?

Are the compact m/b and parts easily sourced ? might have to look at the next swap meet for them.

Yeah, these days the MATX mother boards are really easy to find. Though If I was to do it again I'd be going after an ITX board with VIA CPU.
Cheers.
