This is great news for OSM mappers. :)

I've lifted the following from the OSM Wiki (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/NearMap_PhotoMaps) .

NearMap (http://www.nearmap.com/) is an Australian aerial imagery and location based media company that (amongst other things) creates high resolution aerial imagery over major Australian cities.

The imagery is available for OpenStreetMap tracing under the CC-BY-SA license, and you are welcome to view their full license terms (http://www.nearmap.com/legal/licence.aspx) .

You can view their imagery at nearmap.com (http://www.nearmap.com/) , and the site was launched to the public on 11th November 2009 (Preview login no longer required). Areas currently mapped are shown here (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/NearMap_PhotoMaps#Current_coverage).

Areas for future coverage are here (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/NearMap_PhotoMaps#Future_coverage) .

Help for Potlatch'ers on using Nearmap may be found here (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Image:NearMap_in_Potlatch_1.2f.png).

JOSM users will find tips in the Wiki article.

It's pretty good too. With the date feature, I can see where I trimmed up a tree, and one of my neighbours installed a pool.

It's very poor where I live. The resolution is pathetic. I can't even use it to mark out rivers in JOSM.

There's no aerial view that is off any use in my area that I can use for OSM.

Interestingly, a lot of the tracks that I have contributed into OSM are now showing up in Nearmap. That's really cool.

...you can view Nearmaps (along with Google Earth, OSM etc) directly in OziExplorer now as well, which is handy I must say.
