Woundering if anyone out there has a Telstra HTC HD2 phone and has been able to remove those ugly big shortcuts, the fixed Telstra icons foxtel bigpond and some other shortcut,i have found this regestry fix but i am wating to hear from somebody who has tried it first to see if it works ok.
1. Download and install CE Reg Editor (it's free!) onto the computer you will be syncing the phone with.
2. Plug your brand-spanking new HTC HD2 in and select "Activesync" from the menu that pops up on the HD2.
3. ActiveSync will now pop up on your PC and either:
a. start syncing contacts calanders etc. to outlook if you have set it up, or
b. ask you to set it up. If ActiveSync is not setup you don't need to set it up now, so just click [CANCEL].
4. Open CE Reg Editor and click [CONNECT] (top left picture in menu bar) you should now see 3 lines in the left window one of which is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
5. Click [TOOLS] and then [UNLOCK REGISTRY].
6. A warning will pop on the phone you need to click yes too.
7. Navigate to: HKLM LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\MANILLA\HOME
8. You will now see some folders named 0, 1, 2...
9. Select each folder (0, 1 & 2 relate to the 3 Telstra icons L to R) and by clicking on each one, you will see a line "is read only" in the right hand panel.
9. Double click the "is read only' line and change the value to 0 (1 is yes 0 is no)
10. Disconect your wonderful new HTC HD2 and then reconnect
11. Follow all previous steps to make sure your changes have been saved, if so disconect the HD2 and turn off and on.
The shortcuts are now unlocked and you can now remove them!
Or you can just do this.
