Seeing that GPS units log your historical movements (until you clear them), just curious as to whether police can or do use this information in cases of accidents or following up your location during a crime etc?

On the other hand, if the rozzers bust you for a speeding ticket, are you able to use the GPS log to prove you werent speeding (assuming you werent speeding) at the time?

Prior to this, she had religiously stuck to the speed limits, with this one omission.

Went to court with a lawyer and she was 'let off'.

So was it her good record, or did the .gpx sway the beak?

Maybe a bit of both, but the point is, the .gpx was admissible and was tendered in court as evidence by the defence.

I have heard of a log being used to beat a charge as well, tho apparently the beak said that if there was any evidence in the log that he was over the limit, no matter where then the charge would stick. There was none so he got off... :)

So just be careful what is in the evidence you produce..

In this case, the .gpx confirmed that she was speeding for the brief period where she was booked.

The laws an *** .... oh well then it's a ... donkey. :)

this is what kinda concerns me, you are involved in an accident when the copper realises you have a GPS on board. Is it part of their investigative process to check GPS logs. Even though you may have been doing nothing wrong at the time, some of the history suggests you may have a lead foot and unfairly predujices any descisions made etc.

thanks for the responses anyway :-)
