Hey guys, just purchased a legend cx, have been trying to use it for general purpose navigating and geocaching, problem Im having is that when I try to do a "go to" it doesnt seem to map properly, it generally puts the waypoint km's away, but if i map it, it shows up fine. Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

Cheers

By the way Im running, metroguide and t4a.

I'm not quite sure what your trying to say. For geocaching you have to set the datium to WGS84 and coordinates set to hddd mm.mmm

Yep, Ive done all that,

my problem is that when I go to do a "go to" for any waypoint, inlcuding geocaches, it does not start the route from where I am. and on closer inspection it sarts it at number 174???
and this number moves around it is not staying in a set position if that makes sense. I think the number 174 refers to a hwy number? But it wont start the go to from where I am. Hope This is a bit clearer.

If you haven't cancelled an old route it may be still working from the original point to where ever you choose as a destination.

I would have to agree with Nicko. Unless you cancel them they could be still active. Even turning off the GPS does not stop them. Done that many times only to turn it back on and wondering why the GPS is telling me to goto a place I've been to.

That's why I answered the post with the answer I gave :)

The destination is right most of the time, its where the "go to" starts that is wrong. If Im standing 100m away from a waypoint, then do a go to, and map it, it has the start of the route km's away, not where I actually am. But finishes the route at the waypoint. Im very confused as to what it is doing.

It keep refering to this number 174 as a position that the route always starts at. There is no 174 saved a s a waypoint etc, could it be a glitch in the program??

cheers

I think I'm starting to understand your problem. Just a bit slow I am :zzz Ok you've got the right Datium and coordinate format? You don't have any active navigation (routes or goto's) going? By the sounds of it you have a excellent lock on the sats and it is telling you your current location down to 5m? When you select a waypoint and hit goto the start point jumps from your current location to some km's away. I'm I right so far? You can tell me if I'm still :zzz :zzz

3 thing I can think of you could try.

Do a search on google and find out how to do a hard reset. It just could be a software glitch.
Go to Garmin website and download the latest firmware for your GPS. Installing it may fix the problem.
If it is still doing it after doing the above, take it back to where you got it from. Tell them there is a problem with it and get another one.

I just can't think of what else it could be.

Have you cancelled the previous route?

a reset is done by holding down the rocker (joystick button) and the page button while turning the unit on. It will wipe all user settings and reset back removing any maps or data points you have loaded. I needed to do this to mine after I upgraded to the latest firmware 2.7 with webupdater. It may help. Let me know if it does. Could not find this reset myself in the manual had to google it.

Yep your exactly on the money dooghan, thats what it is doing.

Yes the datum and co ord format is what they need to be.

I downloaded the latest garmin firmware just the other day after I purchased the gps secondhand.

So I guess Ill try find out how to reset it and see what happens.

Yes I have cancelled to last route used.

Ok did that, and it seems to have worked, I thought i had downloaded the latest firmware but was mistaken, so did that as well. So thanks for your help guys. :clap

One last question though, when I reloaded all my maps etc, that map background colour has changed from yellow/cream to black, any way I can change that??

Maps are metroguide, shonky's and t4a.

CheersAs cdk would have found out the black colour scheme would have been night mode. The new Garmin's have a day and night scheme which changes at dawn and dusk each day. I never did like the night mode so I've changed mine to show day mode at night also. Just a bit of info for people who don't know.
