I am in talks with a company in Europe who have produced software that has street navigation and topographic maps overlayed on each other. What this means is there is going to be a product that doesn't require switching maps and will integrate.
It won't mean directions along tracks with voice etc but will certainly bring the Street navigator one step closer to an all map viewer.
I am in initial talks with a map maker in Australia for the purpose of completing this setup and hopefully will have a street navigator to rival any on the market. The closest to this concept is Magellan's CrossoverGPS, however I am predicting a bluetooth 4.3" unit with street maps and topographic maps well under a thousand dollars initially then dropping quickly by the mid year.
