Hi,

Just new, and never used a GPS before. I recently purchased a Garmin etrex Vista HCx online, should be here in a couple of days.. so when I get it I will be familarising myself with it..

I will be using it in different ways, for one when im out on the sportsbike.. so I can get to A too B without having too dig out maps and trying too figure out where I am.. plus recording routes when I'm out in a group.

Plus I enjoy camping and mountain hiking.. so I can see it being handy too..

I think the fact that I like about this unit is how compact it is.. which suits me...

Im also interested in the other mapping sources thats available like this 4tracks and OMS..

Anyways looking forward too checking out this forum.

Matt.

Hi Noc
Welcome to the forum. :wave
A GPS can be a steep learning curve.
So take your time, & spend some time exploring the different threads you will find after you press the 'Forums' button at the top of the page.
If you are chasing a particular topic use the 'Search' button.

Try having a look at the references to Shonkymaps, & download them when you are ready.

Also think about buying OziExplorer then getting the Vic 1:50k maps.
