Laser Navig8R L35

Help!
I just bought a Laser L35. Used it for a week and then the unit played up. The screen froze and I cannot reset using the reset button. It hangs up at the main menu and non of the buttons will work. I am going oversea soonand want to use this on a trip so will not have much time sorting out warranty issues. Can someone advise how I can reset this thing. I figure this can happen even to a replacement unit so I may as well find out how to deal with this.

did you add or alter any thing on the memory card?
their website isn't much help when it won't display. go figure

No, I did not alter anything on the card. I did not even copy the programs from the ard as I don't have a SD card reader.
