Always keen to look at other great GPS sites, I came across Overlander4WD forum's GPS section and in it a posting by Marli linked to the Navman unlocked Wiki site (http://navmanunlocked.wikispaces.com/Unlock)

Anyone out there tried this yet - how does it go? Mate of mine has a Navman S50, which I think will work with this. Just trying to build up my confidence before attempting it. Looks a bit more dangerous than unlocking Mios.

Cheers

Looks safe enough then - nobody seems to have created a "brick" which is my main concern - though why should I care? Its not my GPS Ill be trying it on :lol2 .

Cheers

well I hacked my S50 sucessfully. This should open up a whole new world of opportunities I reckon. Anyway, I've installed the trial version of ozi ce, works fine. I just want to trial a local map (perth) to decide if i part with the dollars to buy ozi outright plus topo raster maps. I downloaded a tile from GA for review, however i need to create a .map image file for ozi to open the thing so I can trial it. Anyone have any ideas how I can either obtain a local topo to trial or create a .map image file without having to purchase ozi outright before deciding if it will suit my needs?

regards,

Shane.

BTW, I hacked the S50 with this one....so far, brilliant :hatoff

If you popped up the map somewhere, some good soul here could create a .map file for you to trial. :)

Hello - cant you just use FILE - IMPORT MAP - ECW MAPS ? This will create the *.map file for you. I just tried it on the trial version (of Ozi on PC that is) and it works Ok for me.

Thanks for the heads up Greg (and the attached file). I didn't download ozi (PC) because as I read it, it wouldn't create the .map file. But after your response, I downloaded and as you state, it does it. Now just to try to sort it out and see what it looks like on the navman with oziCE :swim

PS, I joined so long ago, i cant believe that was my first post :emb
