Hi,

I have a Garmin Legend and find it difficult to use Magellan maps etc on my Garmin as its in a different format. What program can I use that is free to download to do so?

Hi Doug,

Have a look at Tracks4Australia (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tracks4australia/)

I use Gpsbabel to do all my conversions, very easy to use and even better its free to download

http://gpsbabel.sourceforge.net/

I'm not too sure that either of those programs will help too much.
I've never had a Garmin so I'm not too sure what format structure the maps have(??)
I know that if you want to convert the map data on the GPSr (img files) that it's a long and involved process.
It may be easier if you want to use any DiscoverAus mapping info, but again I'm not too sure of this, as I have not yet played with DiscoverAus enough to learn some of it's secrets.

I think GarTrip(??) can convert Garmin map data to a limited kind of Magellan format, but the magellan format is very complicated!!

You may be better off using Tracks4Australia.

babel works a treat, can convert from Garmin to Megellan or the other way around,, as well as converting a lot of other software associated tracks, I have and still own a garmin and a megellan, so I use it to convert all the time.

You want to convert Garmin maps to Magellan format?
Or you want to convert ? maps to magellan?

Garmin to Magellan maps help (http://www.msh-tools.com/magellanmapseng.html)

Be warned!! It's a complicated process producing a Magellan map.

There is a Yahoo group dedicated to magellan mapping, called mobilemapper2.
Lots of info and, more importantly, files :D
