Just joined the forum after a long trek through the Google forest.
My question - what is the best GPS that combines both Car and Boat use. I want to use the GPS for turn left turn right type voice directions and map for exploring WA by car but also want a GPS for using on my small sailing boat with accurate marine charts for coastal Australia.
Needs to be water proof and not too large eg handheld size or a bit bigger perhaps.
Any suggestions
Thanks Cluffy

There aren't any handhelds that has text to speech , Garmin 76Csx will float Garmin 60Csx won't but is a good unit
But the Garmin 276c is the best thing foe both car and boating and has voice guidance via an external speaker, but it won't say the street names

Not sure about Perth, but in Melb the Boat Show was this WE.
Most East Coast capital cities have one about now.
If you have one coming up, get in there & look at all the brands & talk to all the salesmen. Sure you will hear a bit of bull**** but it will give you a better idea if you can hold one & play with the buttons.
Also since you are in Perth, pop into Nicko's shop & talk to him. :hatoff

I agree with Gee You Patrol and I would say it is the only one to consider. You will need a good size datacard, however, the Garmin chartplotters (which the Garmin GPSMap 276C is) uses unique proprietary cards, meaning it is not your every day SD/CF or other camera style cards. They are quite expensive too.
Anyway, You will need the GPSMap 276C, a Bluechart and a City Navigator NT CD, maybe one or two datacards, one say 256MB and the other at 32MB, a marine mount and a power cable with speaker.
