I thought I would post what I use to navigate through the bush. Whilst going to Melbourne Map center to by some paper rooftop maps a guy showed up with a box of disks which just happened to be rooftop on CDs so I thought I would by a few. After getting them home I seen that they can be used with oziexplorer software I loaded the trial version and thought omg this could be awesome. I already have a PPC which work supplied so I started to look at which GPS unit to buy to drive this. After a while this is the setup I ended up with.

I made the aliminium case for my BT GPS at work (well helped one of my employees make it). It is rubber mounted to the handlebar clamps and is o-ring sealed with a clear perspex lid. It is just the right depth so it holds the GPS safe and sound. I still need to finsh it off a little better but I am already designing my next case so I don't know how much more time I will spend on it.
I bought a "Rugged Case" off ebay for a steal (Brand new in the box for $35) That keeps the PPC safe whilst it is in my bumb bag while I ride.
I am use a Compaq 3970 with inbuilt Bluetooth with a expansion pack on it so I can use a 1800 mAh extended battery. This allows me to ride all day (8.00am to 5:00pm) without changing battery. I also cary a battery adaptor that takes 4 AA batteries so I can recharge if I go any futher. I have a 1gig SD memory card in it aswell for maps and MP3's that I listen to on the way to our ride. Oh and for the frequent Husband Points I put Destinator on it for the wife so she can't get lost anymore
The gps I have is HERE (http://www.aktronix.com/product.asp?P_ID=129). I got it on ebay for $150 but I bought another one for my boss (which now has a similar setup for his boat) for $100
I have gone riding with people that have been riding for years and they love this setup. Other people that come and have GPS units on there handlebars usually take them off and leave it in the car after looking at it. I find it to be a very powerful tool and I couldn't live without it in the bush.
