I have just bought a Garmin GPS60 (non mapping).
I am a bit confused as to the map datum to set in my GPS. The maps I am using say they have a map datum of GDA94. I cannot find this datum in my GPS the closest is GDA. The map also says that converting from GDA94 to WGS84 that no correction is needed. So I have set the map datum in my GPS to WGS84, would this be correct. Thank you. Wombatwal

For some reason Garmin were lazy, instead of creating GDA94 they simply have GDA; which are identical.

Magellan do the same - there is no GDA94 on their units ...they just assume people know that WGS84 and GDA94 are the "same" (for the purpose of +-5m accurate GPS units). Would think it would be easy enough to put in another datum...wonder why not?
