Hello,
I have had this GPS for a day now and have spent most of my time setting it up and loading the updated maps supplied by Tempo Service. On its maiden voyage in the car today it took about 5min to find its way after switching it off. It had been operating for about 1/2 hour o.k. before. I did a "reset" and now the message tells me: "Error Engine initialization error. Error code Ox10005. Please reinstall the application,"
I have tried in vain to reinstall the maps via my PC but when turning it back on the same message appears. By the way, the reinstallation takes about an hour.
Perhaps someone has the answer to this problem. I like this Gismo and don't really want to return it to my local Aldi store.
regards,
John

Hello again,
I just found the "format" command in the set-up menu.
I will try to reinstall the software again. (another hour or more for about 250megs) the speed of this reinstall reminds me of the old DOS 2.1 days.
cheers,
John

This solution works.

I had the same issue after only 3 days of use, but fixed it:

* First by doing a FORMAT
* Then reinstall Route66 from the CD
* Then update the map with the fixed one from here: http://www.tempoaustralia.com.au/gps/

Link to updated map. LINK HERE (http://www.tempoaustralia.com.au/gps/)

Right-click on map_updater1.exe and Save Link As:

Now the unit works like a charm. I have also installed alternate voices from Route66 (FREE) so I can receive directions in an Eyrish or Sart Effrikan accent :)

Not bad for $99!!
