Hello - OziCe does display waypoint name, in fact it is the only option (Im talking Development Version 2.2d, cant remeber what other versions do/did). On the PC version you can display the waypoint name, the description (comments) or the waypoint number and name and a few other variations.

...also note that by default OziCe assigns a number (in sequence starting from 0) to a waypoint when it is created manually i.e the waypoint name is a number with prefix WP e.g. WP10. You just need to edit this to something meaningful....if thats what you are talking about?

Yeah.. Each way point is displayed on the map, but it displays the way point id/number.. Not the name.
I am using way points I downloaded from the web
:
http://www.dirtyweekends.com.au/PDF/Fraser%20OziExplorer%20GPS%20Co-ordinates.wpt
I am sure when I first imported the way points the names were displayed.

Hello - no idea what you saw before but the waypoints are displaying as they should, the name is a number....so thats why it is displaying a number. I assume you want the description in the name field - I have attached a modified wpt file with the description in the name field for you to use.

No worries - did a test on Fraser island hema map using oziCe and works fine.
Keep in mind that this file will not upload to a "normal" GPS as generally speaking multiple waypoints with the same name cause problems such as waypoints not loading (there are number of waypoints with the same name in that file e.g. "creek") . This is why, I assume, the original file used numbers as names to avoid duplication.
Duplicate names are fortunately not an issue if you are using OziCE/OziPC.

Cool
Just tried it and all names are coming up.
Thanks for that.
I did notice that the points seem a little off.
EG: If I look at Indian Head, the Indean head bypass point is above where I can see the track on the hema map.
Would there be a setting wrong on OziCE?

datums??

Hello
I did notcie that the matchup with the underlying Hema Fraser map was not perfect but there was no consistent offset (direction and distance) so couldnt attribute it to a datum issue on this fact alone. I also checked the file I created against the one supplied by plotting original data over mine and they were the same...so if there is a problem its not my fault (very important :)
If it was a datum issue all the points would be ~200metres offset in one specifc direction (all other things being equal). So upon consideration have put the observable misplacement of points down to
1. Hema maps being somewhat schematic and 130K scale (16m per pixel)
2. GPS error
3. Person recording original data sitting in car and recording a waypoint for a feature that was in fact metres away for where car was parked.
I plotted the data in google earth (use file attached) - most waypoints that can be cross referenced with a landmark (eg creek crossing) look pretty good - though I have not of course checked all. Fact that at least some points plot Ok indicates it is not a datum issue otherwise all would be out.

PS - had a quick look at Indian Head track in Google - plots spot on so problem is with the Hema Map (well for that point anyway).
