I'm currently trying to hook up two computers to my one monitor so I can run one for general stuff and one for MYOB...
That should be simple in theory if I employ a KVM switch (keyboard/video/mouse), problem is I'm using a Microsoft wireless keyboard which all runs through one USB.
I've scratched my head and searched google high and low but can't think of a way to do this without having two keyboards and mice which I really don’t want to do/have the room for...
Can anyone help......

The one USB connector type mouse/KB combo won't work with the KVM!!
unless you have a KVM with USB!
The KVM needs the separate signal from each device in it's correct port!
You can run the Mouse or KB via an adapter that Craig has posted, but not through the same USB port.
I could be wrong for "all KVM" devices but my 'elcheapo KVM won't work with the set up you have, J..
(but it does work with the USB adapter on the mouse....etc)
hope this made sense?
There are KVM's available with USB ports to do what you want though!

If you are running Windows XP on the machines, you can try Remote desktop sharing. The only drawback with this is that both machines need to be running.
If not using windows XP, try RealVNC (http://www.realvnc.com/) . Again you need to have both machines running
Hope this helps

Yeah I used TightVNC and RealVNC for a while (before I got my $69 4 port KVM), but the KVM is better!
This (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/USB-KVM-HUB-Keyboard-Video-Mouse-Switch-Cables_W0QQitemZ5843956668QQcategoryZ170QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is the kind of thing I was referring to!
Hmmm! I might get one too, the USB ports could come in handy as a psuedo print server!!

Haven't tried it through a USB KVM, but I've run a cordless keyboard/mouse through a single USB port without any probs, well, until the batteries died anyway.

You tried the mouse/KB through a single USB port on a computer?
That's the easy part, the hard part is trying it through a non USB KVM!

Thanks for suggestions, I didn’t know about the USB ones. I just shot off an email to these blokes (http://www.kvm-switches-online.com/) to see if they have a suitable USB KVM switch available. If anyone has the right one they should :D
I'll let you know how it goes...

G'day,
From the web site you mentioned:
35555 (http://www.kvm-switches-online.com/35555.html)
Wouldn't that do what you want (and more)?
Cheers,
dak
