View Full Version : USB GPS Com Port

Hi all

I'm running a Belkin USB GPS talking to Ozi and copilot on a Dell mini 9 laptop (XP SP3)and using Franson GPSgate to share the com port. Works fine.

However 9 time out of 10, at each reboot/startup, the laptop assigns the GPS a different com port. Usually 5 or 6, sometimes 2, but I can't pick it. Because of this all the programs have a whinge and I have to set up the com ports to reflect what's been allocated.

Does anyone know how to make the laptop assign a permanent com port to the GPS?

If you go to device manager you may be able to assign a specific port to your Belkin.

Not sure if it'll work and it may cause conflicts if you don't use the automatic assigning of ports.
