Hi
Just had a quick look through some of my charts (south west WA) and they are Transverse Mercator. I suspect Vixen is trying to use TM because that is what is printed on the map...Anyway as I...
Sorry I meant the specific map/chart name.
Lots of people here you may not "know" but that doesn't mean they haven't done it before - I for one have calibrated a few charts in my time.
Cheers...
Doesn't work for me but we may be talking a different dll or something..obviously doing something wrong..

By the way - what map are you trying to calibrate? Some one may have already had a crack at it.

Does it work with most recent version of CompeGPS Land ? I was under impression it is no longer compatible with current version but I could be wrong.

Hi
I am not 100% sure but if its not written on the map then it is difficult to figure out ..maybe try "trial and error". Plan B is to try using UTM. Many maps state they are TM but using UTM...
Converting coords on mass is easiest done in OziExplorer (or CompeGPS Land, Global Mapper etc etc)...load up waypoints (thousands at once if you want) in whatever datum/coordinate system ..then...
Yes - abbreviated coords are only of any real use (I assume a time saving thing ?) when everyone is issued with the same map of the same area.....otherwise full coordinates with zone/datum etc is...
Hi
That wont work for the task at hand (locating 6 digit universal grid reference minus any other information and then converting to Lat/Long) as you need additional info before you can type in...
Main reason - Humans are involved. Get rid of them and problem will disappear :)

...Make sure you update to the latest version of TwoNav (new one came out recently 2.7.1).
Also best to submit a "ticket" to developers on website if you establish the existence of a real "bug".

Hi
Can you open "normal" ozfx files? i.e other than vic grid.
ozfx isnt a supported format...you need some "aftermarket" add on but Im not sure it works with newer versions of CGL

..on the same token developing new skills/moving with the times is a good idea as well. Providing coordinates as a grid reference is fine but not that practical for many these days. Easy enough to...
...old habits die hard. Bushwalkers, generally speaking, always carry paper maps (good idea) so maybe the old fashion way persist in some circles.

Hi
I dont know what the advantage is for most purposes...easy enough to quote full co-ords in my opinion. Maybe it was created for use over radios (e.g. by army, SES etc) ...less numbers means...
Hi
We've discussed this before somewhere. The numbers are "military" or "universal" grid references. The six digit number is an abbreviation of the actual UTM coordinates - the first three...
..What Hardware did you use? Ability to use WiFi wont exist on some units/PC's.

No worries...if using a different version of TwoNav results in the same issues maybe let us know under exactly what circumstances they are ocurring (e.g. screen freeze when changing what particular...
Hi
My comments on some issues being cause by a misunderstanding of a units capabilities/functions was a generalisation not aimed at anyone in particular and possibly nothing to do with the example...
I haven’t had any "problems" with software on unit for ages, and use it regularly for work so can’t afford stuff ups..... Currently using beta V 2.6 rc4. Suggest you update to this - works for me....
Waypoint and track saving as GPX directly on the Aventura (well in TwoNav in general I suppose) follow slightly different paths for some reason. As pointed out by Nicko you can set the default file...
