Haicom and nRoute probs
Hey all, fantastic forum - many a late night spent on here in the last week. Cant seem to find the answer to my problem though - hope someone out there can help..
I have a Haicom HI-204III USB reciever that I used to run on my old xp lappy and I'm trying to get it to work on my new Vista machine. After much web serching I found a driver that finally got the HI-204III to work with Haicom Viewer (very basic program) but I cant get it to talk to nRoute. I've tried changing the com port in device manager and tried both 4800 and 9600 baud but still nothing. Anybody got any other ideas? |

nRoute requires a Garmin protocol interface.
Easy if your GPS is Garmin. But not insoluble. ![]() You'll need an emulator. Here is one solution (with a bit of interpretation). http://gpsmaps.wikia.com/wiki/How_t...th_GPS_receiver GPSgate is also a preferred option. http://www.gpsaustralia.net/forums/...62&postcount=15 |

Garmin nRoute expects a Garmin GPS receiver as its source.
The only method of connecting your GPS unit I am aware of is to use intermediate software that can interpret NMEA input and convert it to the Garmin protocol as output. Several programs can achieve this with varying degrees of success. GpsGate, GPSproxyPC and XPort come to mind. GpsGate works well for me.

next option - GPS Gate..downloaded the free trial, installed it and hey presto nRoute is working with my haicom instantly....FANTASTIC!!!!! |
