Hema Navigator screen brightness

Some people have commented on the Hema Navigator HN5 screen brightness being not as good as Garmin in direct sunlight. That is true but it is difficult to find one that is.

What I think is the actual issue is not so much screen brightness although is in part the cause of the issue, it is the screen's low contrast that makes the colours some what washed out. The other point is that Garmin uses a solid colour for roads such as a red whilst Hema Navigator's route 66 are white with dark coloured edging and that I believe is a primary problem when viewing the roads etc on the screen.

However, overall I think it is a far cry from the HN4 and I will do a review on it shortly. If I thought it was not a good enough machine I wouldn't stock and sell it.

Both units will perform well offroad - they use the same programs (OziExplorer or MemoryMap both are included on both units)

The way I would rank it having used both for a while:

T500:
Slightly better screen in daylight
Faster processor - quicker startup time
Much better on road navigation, maps and program School zone warnings

HN5:
Better value RRP Vs RRP - includes BT, FM transmitter, 240v charger, carry case, Hema 4x4map collection, OziCE license, Ozi Lite for PC use,
Sturdier mount
Much easier to upgrade to a bigger card

Its a tough call...

Mine arrived today....no time to play much yet

Managed to navigate using R66 back from the post office OK - did notice contrast of roads could be better. Think it needs a shade to stop light hitting the screen to improve readability - same issue with the old Mio.

Connects to PC via usb as external memory device (only sd card contents shown) or via Activesync (internal memory also shown).
