What do I need to download tracks?

I've just bought a Garmin GPS Map 62s, & I'm new to GPS.
I tried to download a track from this site but don't have the program to open it.
What do I need to get?
I am yet to buy Garmin Topo Australia, I assume that or some equivalent software is what the laptop needs to read it?
Also, is there some basic software I need to have the laptop & GPS "talk" to each other?

Have a read of this thread and get hold of Mapsource and or Basecamp which will 'chat' with your GPS.
