    VantagePoint: Unable to Delete Geocaches

    Hi everyone,

VantagePoint is crashing whenever I try to delete geocaches (either all at once, or singularly).

I've converted my service station data to geocaches, so that I can select only those within a certain distance of the route (I've an eXplorist XL, so limited how many I can display in a waypoint file). Anyway, I've imported a number of geocache files to VantagePoint (totalling approx. 1300 locations for NSW), but have only managed now to delete a few hundred. The remaining geocaches total >1000 and VP crashes whenever I try to delete them.

Has anyone come across this error? Do you know of a limit on the number of geocaches?

I've uninstalled and re-installed the software, but the geocaches remain - they must be stored someplace on the hard-drive, but I've been unable to find them. Does anyone know how these can be removed outside of VP?

    Any assistance appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Paul.

Okay, with some more ferretting around, I've found it (searched for documents modified recently)!

The offending file was C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\VantagePoint\Users\Use r1\UDS\uds_base.sql - I renamed it and when I opened VantagePoint, it created a new one. Old file size 9.3MB, new 1.2MB. For the benefit of this forum, I'm on Win7 x64 (in case it makes a difference).

I'd still appreciate knowing the limits, if anyone has a handle on it.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

Hi. You might find the GSAK program useful. You can Filter (on PC) your database/s of Waypoints/Geocaches by any number of criteria, and load to GPSr.
    Cheers.

My uds_base.sql file is 4.9MB and all seems well in VantagePoint.
