Thread: Identifying map extremities

  1. Identifying map extremities

I'm currently converting a heap of bmp image maps to map files in OziExplorer. After calibrating, I need to identify the top left and bottom right map extremity lat and long. Is there any easy way of doiing this, rather than actually placing the mouse pointer over each corner?

    1. You should have posted this in the OziExplorer section not the GeneralGPSChat section.
    2. The bmp images are not converted, you still need these as they are, you are creating a second (*.map) file for each image.

Not sure why you need to do this??
    A. Calibration points can be placed anywhere on an image that is suitable. Does not have to be at the corners.
    B. You do need to locate a calibration point with a mouse click for each one, no other way of doing this.

Sorry to sound pedantic in my response, but it sounds like you are jumping into something you do not fully understand
converting a heap of bmp image maps
perhaps try re-reading the Help section in Ozi about calibration again.

  3. I think I understand the situation better than I explained

Apologies, didn't even notice the Ozi forum section.

I've successfully calibrated the bmp files and have them saved as .map files. I simply want to automatically identify the extremities of the map, without having to go into the map and place my cursor at the edge of the map to find the lat and long. Hope this clarifies it somewhat! I thought there might be an app that might have done this (there's quite a few maps!), or even in Ozi a map properties window that might show it.

  4. Not sure if this is what you're after but have a look at 'Mapborder' on this page
