What Weather Site on the net do you use, and how good is it ?
I have found the Elders Weather Site fairly good.

i either use bom or http://www.weatherzone.com.au/ but dunno if they are the best.
i would like to hear more opintions/options
Here is another one www.weatherchannel.com.au
Elders (http://www.eldersweather.com.au) or BOM (http://www.bom.gov.au). Our town does not have its own forecast, so we need to second guess from surrounding (larger) towns. I find that Elders gives the best estimates (including rain probabilities) and is in a consistent and easy to use layout. Their rain radar is also good - it combines the BOM radar sites into one zoomable map. (Note: as far as I can tell, the weatherzone and BOM provide most of the raw data to Elders)
You might guess that as a farmer, I am a weather obsessive :eyefull-s

Just checked out the Elders site and have added it to my links...not bad at all is it.
I use a small program called Weather Stats. It is a free download from this site. In the menu on the right chose Weather Software. The download link is at the bottom of the page.Originally Posted by fishberley
Once loaded onto your PC, you can set it up for your local area (or any area of interest) and the software accesses the BOM to provide all required information without the need to search the sometimes confusing pages of the BOM site.
You can also set it up so as the weather is displayed as a banner on your desktop or you can have temperature etc displayed in the task bar. It a great little program and as Arthur always says....It free!

takes a while to sort it out but its not bad
sorry alreay see its been added

Depending on what you are after:
I do a lot of model glider flying.. so use these weather sites for wind direction and strength.
The Lightning site (3rd one down) is very interesting.. just drag a box around the area you want to view and it will zoom in to show lightning activity. You can only zoom so far though.

Hi VKC1SR,
I really like the Lightning Strike site (radar.strikeone.net.au) - I was not aware of it before. Thanks.
Robert.
Maybe not weather sites 'per se', but being a farmer; rainfall info and weather predictions are king.
My key ones are:
7day rainfall forecast.
14day rainfall forecast.
AWN's 8-day Operational Consensus Forecasts.
Bom's WEEKLY RAINFALL BULLETIN (NSW).
And this gem; How Often . Full rainfall stats for the last 100 years for anywhere in Aus. Go to Products -> How Often![]()
I tend to use the bom site and I like the look of the Elders site (haven't see that before)
For my boating purposes I like http://www.buoyweather.com/index.jsp
I find it is more accurate than the bom.
There is a common belief here in Mackay that the bureau is always 24 Hrs out in Mackay... one way or another. Its surprising how often it seems to be true.
To use that buoy weather site I click on the button menu on the left side of the page, to go to Australia, and in my case choose northeast and then go to custom location. Because there are two virtual buoys near me at Mackay but both are much too far out to sea for my usage. The custom buoys give me a good indication of what to expect in my experience.
Cheers, Paul.
I like seabreeze. It has wind, swell height & period, tides and moon phase all on one page. It forecasts out further than BOM.
