Exclamation How to install maps within Mapsource

Many of you are looking to add more than one map at a time to a Garmin GPS. The video shows you how to add multiple maps to a Garmin Mapping unit. An example is adding ShonkyMaps and Contours Australia onto the Garmin (or any other Garmin compatible map). The installed maps are then selectable on the GPS device.

Youtube version:

Alternative video display: The following link will take you to a web page that shows you how to add multiple maps to a Garmin Mapping unit.

Be aware it is 2.7MB in size and is some what slow to download. Any comments are appreciated.

A Garmin 60CS example (thanks Michael ):
Quote:
Can you load Garmin Metroguide and Shonky at the same time?
Yes, if you have them both on the PC, you can open MapSource, select the tiles you want from both maps, then send them to the GPS.
Quote:
Which one would be used first in 60CS?
Probably Metroguide.
Quote:
How do you switch between them (using handheld unit)?
Go to the map page, press the Menu button.
Scroll to Setup Map & press Enter
Scroll sideways to the "I" symbol, press Menu.
Scroll down & press Enter on the required line.

Thanks must be something wrong my end
but I got the idea and have tested it since.
the only bummer I can see if that if you want to turn off one " product " you will need to disable each map one by one ( ie turn off the tiles ) and I can see that getting cumbersome.

but many thanks for the tutorial - I am going to give it a shot over the weekend.

No you don't have to turn off the tiles one by one. What GPS do you have?

Different Version of Mapsource?

Hey there,

Nice guide to Mapsource, however the version i just bought doesn't have the drop-down menu everyone seems to be refering to on this forum. (for selecting the map sources you want.)

I'm using Version 6.15.6

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Probably because you have no maps installed such as ShonkyMaps.

You would need 2 or more map sets installed into Mapsource to see it.

Mapsource

Hey Guys,

Apologies for the panic.

I managed to download ShonkyMaps, then installed it. Following this, Mapsource recognised multiple maps, and the pulldown is now shown.

Thanks for your assistance!

Now all i need is to buy a MicroSD today to upload the ShonkyMaps onto my Nuvi,.....than also work out why my Routes that I transfer don't seem to appear on the GPS.

At least i'm moving in the right direction....

Thanks

Chris

I had a look at the video to add extra maps. However, how do I load Garmin oz topo maps into "Map Source". Garmin OZ topo comes with "Base Camp"?

Any help please

Is Garmin topo on DVD or SD card?
